A trio of Project Linus quilts and trying teeny hexagons

(A WordPress version of this post is available here as it may be more mobile-friendly for viewing and commenting.)

There has been some simple sewing this month which saw three quilts for Project Linus being completed. Two were made from part of an Liverpool FC duvet cover and one was from a printed panel I bought at Waterloo Quilters de-stash event for £1.

The LFC quilts have wide sashing using fabrics I bought at British Quilt and Stitch Village show in Uttoxeter in April, and all three quilts have binding made with fabrics from Uttoxeter.

I’ve also being trying a new to me paperless method of making patchwork hexagons where each hexagon is made by folding a circle of fabric. I made by circles by drawing around coins, starting with a 5 Euro cent coin (just under 7/8"diameter, giving a hexagon with sides of approximately 5/16") and seeing how small I could go.

I’ve decided a 1 Euro cent coin (approximately 5/8” diameter) is my limit, which gives a hexagon with sides of approximately 3/16”. Rather than drawing around a coin, I think it would be easier
